Mr. J from my book City of Kindling. My brother :iconk9ine: would probably call him the main character. I wouldnt quite go that far, but he's definately an important one.
This was just a design sketch though, subject to change.

He's got scheming eyebrows. Does he cause a lot of trouble? Also, is his hat like the one Willy Wonka has?! I've always wanted one of those.
Nice job, I like the facial expression.

He's less of a trouble maker than a trouble handler. Tends to show up whenever conflict is going on and try to bend it to his advantage. He's definitely a schemer though, and a very manipulative person.
As for the hat... well this dude was originally a character in my rpg played by my friend Patrick, and he was originally supposed to wear a Top Hat. I changed it to a Fedora in the book cause I think the Top Hat would be a little ridiculous...but good guess :)
:iconmalichinari:
Top hats rock! But they are a bit extreme, so good choice.

That's my kind of character. I don't do well with the sympathetic, feeler characters.
:iconbluespade:
Yeah, it's pretty much all anti-heroes in this book, it's just that kind of setting. Also, worth noting that the three major characters (J, Vice, and Day) were all created by my players, not me, although I've certainly expanded on them in writing form. Enough were I feel I deserve at least partial ownership :)
:iconmalichinari:
I understand how that goes. Some of my characters have their roots from other people. I just took them, redesigned them, and tweaked their personalities. They've been through enough modification for me to see them as my own, even though I wasn't the initial creator. Also, a few of my characters were designed after people I knew in high school, which is kind of weird. Do you ever build a character after an actual person you know?
:iconbluespade:
Yeah, back when me and my brother were doing a comic we based a character off of a friend of ours, cause he's a really interesting guy. It didn't get far though.
